    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Chinese built Leaf sedan. Before we know it most of our cars will be EVs built in China...

    Worrying for Sunderland?

Haven't seen the Sylphy name in years. Wouldn't this be a saloon version of the current Pulsar? I think they're known as the Sentra in North America.

One thing that I find odd is the preponderance of EVs in saloon format. The SUV/crossover has been eroding the saloon for years now and yet manufacturers (who know this in ICE) seem to be largely ignoring it. Does the raised ride height throw out centre of gravity etc?!? What am I missing here?

While I would love to see the move to SUV style EVs, it's good to see even a small expansion from Nissan. Looks nice too.

Pretty sure the Tiida still exists in some markets.

Interesting to know what battery pack it will have and whether it will have thermal management. Probably Chinese manufactured batteries?

Who in their right mind will buy a car named after a venereal disease?

Only for the Chinese market, at least initially, according to Alex of E for Electric.

    It’s for the Chinese market.

That looks horrendous. Come on, it’s not impossible to make a good looking EV (unless you’re Nissan it seems)

Yeah, but it's the same as the C13 Pulsar that we get. There's no saloon any more - that was replaced by the Latio and or Sylphy (with various different export market names). The last generation Almera sold here was actually a rebadged Bluebird Sylphy (they later dropped the "Bluebird" from the title).

Anything manufactured outside of china have huge import taxes. Companies are using all sort of tricks to get around it....

So the big issue Tesla will have in China is the price, that is why the likes of Nio have started up and will probably sell bucket loads of cars, mostly due to price as they don't have to pay import tax

You will see a lot of manufacturers come out with similar options which will only be released in China.......

I spent a week in Shanghai last year. I saw more Teslas in that week than in the rest of my life. I saw more Ferarris than I did durign a week in Italy last summer.

Interesting, I seen a number of videos and articles about the Nio ES8 etc and not having to pay the import tax that would mean it will sell far higher numbers than Tesla.

There is definitely a lot of conspicuous consumption for the really high end stuff.

The Model 3 may suffer, but I doubt they will be able to satisfy domestic demand for a while in any case.
