my neighbour and i share a common connection to the water main in cork city-we only discovered this recently when he had a plumber in doing some work and he closed the valve. the stop valve and new meter are on the footpath outside his house. i need a new connection to my house now. the water main has been the same since we moved in, so whose responsibility is it to pay for the new water line, tap in, road opening, etc?
    Thanks.

The person who wants a new connection will be responsible for the cost.

Were both of your houses built as part of an estate, or was your house built after your neighbours?
