Has anyone ever bought from Easy Autos in Santry?
I am looking to buy a Honda Insight and it looks like they are the best stockists of Japanese import models .
They have good reviews and the sales lad seems to know what he's talking about just want to see if anyone else has dealt with them.

Thanks very much pal. Not sure what to set for messaging but I appreciate the feedback. How do you find it for longer journeys?
I have owned a Prius 2nd gen and a 1 litre Yaris so I don't think the lack of power will be an issue. I would hope it gives a little more kick than a yaris.

More powerful definitely than either, sounds like a normal car,but juice will drop if you're heavy on the pedal,or live in a very hilly area, other than that nothing bad to report,,,what happened to the Prius, supposed to b a great car,,,drivers seat for longer journeys for some ppl a bit hard, personally I'm ok in it,do several hours a day in mine

I live on top of a 180m climb but what goes up must come down.
aye the prius was an experiment in hybrids and automatic cars in general, I loved the CVT transmission in them but it was more or less a run around with 299999km on it so was time to get rid.

From testing the insight out today I found it to feel a bit cheaper than the prius but nicer to drive. I'll be going for it as I enjoyed the drive.
You are right they are a lot faster than people give them credit for.

I've bought two Honda insights from them in the last two years. The cars themselves are a great little car. Not a huge amount of power but they're not meant to. Very cheap car to run, insure and tax. I put 25,000km on mine in a year and got it serviced through easy autos just before I traded it in with them and it cost €75.

The garage themselves were very helpful and straight forward to deal with. I also have friends who have bought cars from them. No problems.

You should get your facts right before making smart comments. I don't work for, or ever have worked for them, I have no other connection with them other then that I've bought two cars there.

People are very quick to give a bad review of a place or business and everyone believes it straight away but when someone gives a good review everyone automatically assumes that it's the business itself giving the review.
I'm sure that does happen.... but not in this case.

I bought a 2013 Prius from them and they installed a new custom 300 euro Xtrons unit and a reverse camera into it. What I love is that they flash the Japanese cluster info with English firmware so there is no longer a hint of it being a Japanese import. I'll be returning to them when it's time to upgrade to the 2016. They were slow to change over ownership of the car I traded in due to some system issue, but offered me a free annual service as compensation for the hassle. There's nowhere better to buy a Prius import in Ireland. Traded in my 2007 Prius.

Was it difficult to get insurance for a Japanese imported car?

+1 For Easy Autos... got a Prius a few weeks ago, very happy with car and service.

My previous insurer, 25Plus.ie wouldn't insure Jap Imports, but Liberty Insurance do.

If you can get the exact reg number of the car you're interested in, you should be able to perform an online quote with them.
To confirm that the quote was valid, I then rang up Liberty to make sure they knew it was an import and didn't invalidate/effect the quote.
I think their quote mechanism detects if it's an import or not.

I didn't try other insurers at the time, so I'm not sure how many others insure Jap imports.

No, I got mine from Liberty Insurance and it was cheaper than my last Irish Prius I traded in. The treat it as the same as an Irish Prius as it has the same specs. Axa would insure it too but chose Liberty as they were a hundred cheaper. When people say insurance companies won't insure imports they mean cars that cannot be bought here, those exclusive to the Japanese market. But the Prius is one they treat as the same as an Irish one as it's virtually the same as an Irish model. With Japanese exclusive cars they won't insure them as the parts for them are expensive as they're hard to get, with a Prius it's the same parts as an Irish one so there are no extra costs for the insurance company. that's what I was told by the insurance companies

Interested in buying a Honda Jazz from them. Would this be considered a Japanese exclusive car in terms of insurance?

No they are on sale here too, however a Jap import version will likely have no immobilizer and so will be considered an easy target for thieves so likely higher insurance.

Thanks! It does have an immobiliser so happy days! Don't think its been registered yet so will the insurance co. give me a quote without the number plate?

They might, what you should do is look for a similar imported Jazz the same year and ask them to privionally quote on that, making sure it's the same engine and spec.

Having terrible trouble with my insurance company with regard to a quote for this. They don't have a matching car on their system they say  Waiting for them to call me back tomorrow. They only can find the old model 1.3 and this is a 1.5. Even though I have the reg and it comes up on a motor check they can't find it.

Anyone insure a 2014 Honda Fit 1.5 Jap import? Who did you use?

Yeah, they'll give you a quote. Liberty gave me one before Easy Autos got me the plate. I wanted to know where I stood on the insuance before I bought the car but they charged me the same as the Irish version of the car. So, it should be the same with you

They say Liberty are one of the best when it comes to imports, they don't ask any questions, other companies mess about. Not sure what company you're with though.

Thanks. Eventually managed to get it sorted after seven phone calls to them! Insurance transferred and a refund of €57! I'm with Aviva so pretty pleased with the end result. Now to pick up the car!

You'll love the car mate, i've had my Prius since October and it hasn't even had trouble starting in the morning. They were a little slow in registering the transfer of ownership over to them with the car I traded into them but they offered me a free annual service as an apology so that was great aftersales service. I wouldn't go with anyone else for a used car. I wish they were all like that.

Thanks. I'm getting a Honda Fit hybrid. Everything has gone ok so far. Good to deal with and no sales pressure. I just have to get used to driving a lower height car :o
