Is it still possible to walk into the passport office in Dublin and show them a flight booking so you can get your passport processed sooner rather than waiting 10 days?

Just arrived back in the country yesterday after being away for a year. Broke my passport a couple of weeks back (plastic ID card snapped out of booklet) so was travelling home on an Emergency Travel Cert. I've got tickets to the states booked for the next few weeks so I wanted to get it done ASAP and apply for a new Esta.

    Anyone any insight? Cheers

A Pilot Rapid Renewal service has been introduced in the Passport Office in Knockmaun House, 42-47, Lower Mount Street, Dublin 2. This will facilitate where possible and by appointment only, the renewal of a passport for an Adult or Child Travelling in less than 3 working days. This service is available only through the Dublin office. A first time Adult or Child applicant cannot avail of this service.

If you wish to make an appointment for the Rapid Renewal Passport Service visit www.passportappointments.ie. In all other circumstances, it will take a minimum of 3 working days to issue a passport.

I renewed mine online in March and also had it back within 2 weeks and that included a rejection of the quality of digital photo I submitted so I had to re-submit a digital photo. Great service

I had to do this last year, had it in 3 working days. You do pay a nice premium for the service though.

    For replacement passport:

    Adult Large Passport €195
    Adult Standard Passport €165

A renewal is a lot easier than a first time application. The DFA dont claim a 10 day turnaround for first time applicants. They say it is currently 23 days.

got one recently in 4 or 5 weeks. Still not the 2 weeks that was guaranteed when the service was originally started

The Brits have clogged the mail passport system with passport requests. The http://www.passportappointments.ie/ is your only man if you want to have it guaranteed in a few days.

same here, took exactly 13 days from online submission to completion.
mine was a lost passport request.
the online system is very handy for tracking the process etc. the chat feature is there (you will most likely need to wait 20 minutes) but i was very happy with the service.
