Borrow a trolley jack and slide it away from the wall , maybe jack in the middle of the rear suspension or front cross member. Or get a rope on it and drag it out.

Battery on the fob or the car?

May not be the best way to go about it if it's got the hand brake on or if is in gear

How close is it to the wall? Would you get a hand in to open the bonnet and charge the battery?

AA or breakdown assist if you have a policy.

So, I’m trying to get into my car, I parked it against the wall with the drivers side against it.now the battery is gone dead I have no way of getting into it without causing damage.there is no barrel on the passenger door or boot door, car is a 05 Golf.

Anyone any advice on how I can get into it?

How close to the wall could it be like, could you even get on the bonnet or roof and just reach your hand down to get the key in? Or is there a key hole for the boot? Why do they make everything so complicated in modern cars

even if you unlock the drivers door you still need to get the bonnet open unless you can get the bonnet open from outside

I'm guessing the car was parked long term like this, I'm which case it's just bad planning rather than bad design

The way I read the post is that its only the drivers door against the wall, which means the passenger door is free to open once unlocked.

Is it in a corner or just the wall on the drivers side? If you have decent access to the bonnet you may be able to open it from underneath somehow?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,520 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

how much space have you for the door to open? any chance of being able to get on the roof and pop the bonnet through the door opening?

what are your plans for the car?

yeah but the central locking won't work if the car battery is dead

a lend of a pair of pallet trucks and a few pallets would sort you out.

my fear would be that the car has deadlocks so the other doors may not be able to be opened

any chance of being able to reach the bonnet catch through the drivers door

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,299 ✭✭✭✭The Backwards Man

Can you not get at the bonnet catch from underneath? Reach up between the fan and pull it?

If you have 4 skateboards or even a serving tray jack up car and slowly put each wheel on the skateboards. You want the skateboard wheels facing outwards.

Pull car slowly out from wall

If car is in neutral you might even be able to pull it out with a trolley jack from behind

    That ain't no golf.

Afaik vw's have double locks so opening it from the inside will be fruitless.

Can you get enough access to charge the battery through the cigarette, sorry, cigar lighter?

Isn't there a key hole for the boot just above the rear number plate facing down!?

Can you access starter or alternator terminals from the bottom?
I am not familiar with Golf and couldn't tell if you can.
Starter and alternator are directly connected to battery on most cars, you could energize the car from there, using battery charger or another battery and open doors with keyfob then.
Don't jump from another car, in case you short the leads.

I’ll have to get it pulled out from the wall I think or break the window

Jesus don't break the window no need atall. Jack it up and put something under the wheels. Even a bit of timber with a bar under it you'd get a few feet at a time

Or 20 odd Boardsies stood around bouncing it out.

I can remember years ago when my son and his mates lifted their teachers mini around in its parking space so it was at right angles to normal and couldn't be driven out till the cars either side of it were moved :o

Surprised no-one else has asked, how did you get out of it when you parked?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 339 ✭✭Booms

If you can connect one of these:
    https://bestjumpstarterreview.com/best-cigarette-lighter-jump-starter/

    or one of these:
    http://www.clickerslickers.com/car_battery_charger

it should give you enough charge on the batterry to open the central locking.

Provided you can get it plugged into the 12V socket in the first place.

I've used the cable version (from Lidl) to start my sister's car a few times - took about 20 mins for enough charge to build up to turn the engine over fast enough. Locks should respond quicker.

    Where are you, approx.?

    Passenger door?

Biscuit tins will work or wheel covers. If you can get 3 or 4 burley men ye could lift it out even, you'll only need to move it a foot or two from the wall

Maneuvered across to passenger side and out of the passenger door that wasn't up against the wall!
