Ford 4000 lift arm/Hydraulic problem

Hi there. I have a 1974 Ford 4000 and for a good few years now I've had this problem. I can lift up the lift arms a few inches but when I go to pull up the handle any further, The lift arms go up the whole way up. The same thing happens for tipping a trailer with the pipe. I've had it looked at and the guy said that he didn't know what was wrong.
Do any of you guys know what's wrong
    Thanks for you help :)

I'm not sure is there depth/draft control in a 4000? You might have it set in depth control.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

Hi there. I've tried changing the draft control lever and opening the flow valve. Still no look nothing changed

Has yours a valve under the seat. Ours has a plunger that needs to be in or out can't remember, have you tried that?

Yes that is for switching between the hydraulic pipe and the lift arms. That doesn't solve the problem but thanks anyway

I'll look at mine later, if I recall there's a lever in that area. It could be on the housing?
