Vintage Vitus for good cause

This somewhat breaks the rules, because it is also advertised on Facebook, so I hope the mods can make an exception in this case....

Basically local pro legend Ciaran Power is trying to raise funds for experimental cancer treatment for his wife and mother of his 3 young children and I have decided to forgoe my annual summer vintage bike build project to try help in a small way.

Anyway, I am not sure if this Facebook link will work, but here you go.. if anyone is a 90s kid and wants a nice, usable collectible with all of the money going to a good cause (and then some).. please give it some thought.

1990s Vitus 797 lugged aluminium frameset. Size 54cm. (A later variant of what Sean Kelly spent most of his career on - which was a 979.. as its more modern it can take modern wheels i.e. 130mm spacing etc.. but I kept it entirely period). Very unique chrome / blue paintjob... which doesn't appear to be paint - perhaps some sort of anodisation ? Either way, its a looker.

Full Dura Ace 7400 STI 8 speed groupset (they stole a march on the market leaders, Campagnolo with this in 1990 and it took campagnolo 2 years to catch up with its on STI's..).. almost all of it is new old stock or close.. which is rare in this condition.. especially for the shifters... It is amazing how well they function.. the dual pivot brakes are better than most modern ones I have encountered and the gears are as smooth as almost anything out there today, smoother in fact due to the wider chain.

Gipemme Tecno 416 40mm clinchers (the original deep sections.. campag licensed the rim for its original shamals).

Modern nitto noodle bars that retain the classic look... campag super record fluted seat post.. brand new original reissue of the 1990 selle Italia flite ... comes ready to ride with modern keo pedals (silver to match the bike), bottle cages and brand new high end schwalbe one vguard clincher tyres...

When Ciaran was starting his career this would have been a dream bike. Its probably better than the bike he won the 98 RAS on !

    Anyway.. HERE'S THE DEAL...

I AM GOING TO PUT A NOMINAL PRICE OF €750 ON THIS.. AND IT'S EASILY WORTH MORE ESPECIALLY IF YOU PART IT OUT...

IF SOMEONE GIVES ME 750 FOR THIS.. I WILL DONATE THAT TO LISA POWERS GO FUND ME PAGE....
.... FURTHERMORE, I WILL MATCH THAT PRICE OUT OF THE FUNDS I HAD SET ASIDE FOR THE NEW PROJECT WHICH MEANS IF YOU PAY ME €750.... I PUT €1500 INTO LISA'S FUND.

    SHARE IF YOU FEEL APPROPRIATE..

The bike really sparkles in daylight.. indoor pictures do it no justice.. Will get better ones tomorrow.. bike is 100 percent ready for the road.. creak from back wheel is only issue.. likely minor.

Wow, someone got a steal there. It'd take nearly double that selling price to build it yourself.

... exactly right ! A man who knows his stuff.. I was into it for a little more than double. But I knew it might take a long time to wait for a collector willing to pay it's true value . Hence matching the donation so the full value went to Lisa and Ciaran power.

I'd encourage anyone with a few quid to spare to consider helping the Powers in their quest. There's a few other contrubutors names you may recognise on the GoFundMe page, including some guy called Bradley Wiggins....
