    Check here:

    https://www.gov.uk/check-british-citizen

Edited to add: With regards to question 3, Irish citizens are automatically deemed to be "settled" in the United Kingdom.

Only if living in the U.K. the OPs address is in Canada. The question for him is whether he was a British citizen at birth. His parents status at that point will be relevant.

I’m making this point as question 3 is determined by what you answer to q1 & q2. It’s different for different people.

Even the British Armed Forces don’t discriminate between Irish and British citizens! Note also my use of “citizen”, you are one irrespective of whether you hold a passport.

they certainly do. some roles are not open to non-british citizens. Pilot roles are british citizens only. Intelligence roles even exclude dual british-irish citizens.

The pilot job description does not include any nationality test beyond that for regular RAF which includes Irish Republic nationals and British citizens holding dual nationality. https://www.raf.mod.uk/recruitment/roles/roles-finder/aircrew/pilot

Likewise, GCHQ and MI5 generally impose residence requirements but don’t explicitly exclude candidates on the grounds of dual nationality.

That being said, I suspect Miss Beyoncé is not contemplating those posts...

you need to look at the role specific requirements shown on the right on this page

    https://www.raf.mod.uk/recruitment/how-to-apply/eligibility-check?role=2032&time=regular

    for a pilot
You must be a citizen of the United Kingdom or holder of dual UK/ other nationality.

Whether or not you were born in the United Kingdom, you should have resided there for the 5 years immediately preceding your application.

    for intelligence analyst
In order to apply to the Intelligence Analyst role applicants need to have been British from birth and hold no other nationality.

To meet RAF residency requirement an applicant should have been a UK resident for a minimum of 10 years immediately preceding application, and have spent no more than 28 days per year outside the UK within those 10 years.

UK residents of less than 10 years, or those who have spent more than 28 days per year outside the UK will require more eligibility checks.
