    Hi,

Can someone help me out, I want to see if I can get fiber from Eir (or any of the providers)

I put my eircode into the broadband.gov.ie roll-out map I can see my house is in the amber area. My neighbour at the end of the road seems to have be enabled (blue)

My house as the marker on it:

If I put my neighbour's eircode into eir checker they are enabled.

What's involved in getting my home enabled?

Eir sales did knock on my door a few months back and I queried him then.
He said if I see a KN van working on the pole at the end of the road (which has what looks to be fiber spool on it) to ask "The man that looks to be in charge, will be holding a handheld gadget"

    Thoughts?

Try your and your neighbour's Eircode on:

    https://www.eir.ie/broadband/1000mb-fibre/

If your neighbour has FTTH available and you don't according to the eir checker then I'm afraid your options are limited and you will have to wait for the NBP.

Yeap, FTTH shows as available for them.

The Eir sales guy mentioned something about getting "the box" installed on their house and then the houses up the lane (up to 6 he said) could "hang of that".
I know there's probably far more to it then what he said.

I'm sorry I didn't push him for more info at the time.

Unfortunately if it is available for your neighbour and not for you then from eir's perspective they have gone as far as they have planned. You have not been included in this rollout and you have been left for the National Broadband Plan. Sales reps really have no clue in the main and will say anything to appease you.

What he could have been talking about though was sharing a connection with your neighbour. This would have nothing to do with eir, in fact it would be in violation of their terms, and would need to be arranged between you and your neighbour using Ubiquiti point to point wirelss or similar.

Attached what's at the end of road on pole near neighbour's house, is that a fiber splice box? (DP?)
There's a number of them along the road, as far as the main road (about 1km)
And I assume they're not in use yet with the cable wrapped around them?
Last question: is it possible it get one installed up my road say to extend fiber to my home?

I assume it'll be down to the NBP to get that done.

    Yes, it is one.

Thats its normal setup - the looped cable allows them to drop it from the pole and work at ground level.

Yes, it will be up to the NBP.
