Does anyone know if there is an upper age limit for trade apprenticeships with councils, i.e. would they consider someone in their thirties who wanted a complete change of job?

Honestly you'd be unlikely to be considered but you might stand a better chance at large process plants. They will typically include an instrumentation course alongside an electrical apprenticeship also. I'm not sure what apprentice rates are these days but they were dismal when I served my time. Have you factored that in?

Why is it the council you're looking for an apprenticeship with anyway? It's probably the worst apprenticeship you'll get from a learning point of view.
