Was thinking of getting some pig slurry spread on the silage ground. What’s people’s opinions? Someone told me before it could burn the grass?? What fertilizer would you sow along with it? Thanks.

it never burnt the grass here. what fertilizer you put out will all depend on soil samples, they are the best money you'll ever spend.you could be throwing e100 per acre of your money away otherwise. it costs e15 to soil sample an 8 acre plot.

Getting late to be applying pig slurry to silage ground now. N can be very slow to used up with it. Could lead to high nitrates when you come to ensiling. From memory 2k gals has around the same N as a bag of CAN. We got caught badly with it about 25 years ago. Still fresh in the memory. Might be a better strategy to put it out after first cut.

Yeah it’s a good few years since the last soil sample. Definitely high up on the to do list.
