Aside from major city landmarks that always feature in movies (Times Sq, Lincoln Monument, Golden Gate, Eiffel Tower etc), what movie locations have you visited and what locations are on your wish list.

    I've been to:

    - The Exorcist steps in DC
    - The shop from Shaun of the Dead
    - The square in Venice used as the exterior of the library from Indy and the Last Crusade

I hope to go to Devil's Tower from Close Encounters and Mt Rushmore from North by Northwest which are within about a two hour drive of each other. Would also love to visit Sad Hill cemetery from The Good The Bad and The Ugly

The rebel base in Star Wars A New Hope. It was filmed at some ancient ruins in Guatemala.

They also recorded some animal sounds for use as dinosaur calls in Jurassic Park in the same location.

Very happy about the Star Wars one though :)

Trim Castle Co. Meath where they filmed the scene of William Wallace storming the castle gates at night (got to see it being filmed too!).

The Square in Venice used as the exterior for the library in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (the 'library' is tiny, the film makes it look so much larger than what it actually is).

Devil's Tower for Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

Monument Valley where Forrest Gump stops running.

The Palace at Versailles (used in many different films).

The beaches of Normandy and Carentan in Saving Private Ryan (and Band of Brothers, I think!).

Lake Tahoe in The Godfather Part II.

Probably a few others, but I can't think of them right now.

A belief in gender identity involves a level of faith as there is nothing tangible to prove its existence which, as something divorced from the physical body, is similar to the idea of a soul. - Colette Colfer

Howler Monkeys at dawn with that iconic view in Tikal is going to be forever etched in my memory.

The scene in Lord of the rings where the raging river becomes white stallions (Arrowtown? New Zealand)
(the river wasn't as impressive that day) :-)

Spent more time in Paris visiting locations from Before Sunset and retracing Jesse and Celines steps than I did visiting the normal tourist attractions.

I’ve been to where the lake/swan/boat scene from The Notebook was filmed- Cypress Gardens in South Carolina. I don’t care whatever people think of the film, but the cinematography and scenery are absolutely gorgeous.

On the same trip, the bench in Savannah where Forrest Gump waited for a bus and told his story to various people.

The hotel from The Witches- the Headland Hotel in Newquay.

Dunno if it's cheating since it was at the movie studio itself, but I was on the submarine set for Das Boot and got to ride Falcor. :D
