Annual leave entitlements in Bord Bia

    Hi there

    Just wondering does anyone know what they offer in terms of annual leave? Doesn't mention it on their website. Assume they have good pension as state owned. Is that accurate though?

    Honestly- those are questions you really should be asking Bord Bia.

    Standard rules- from the model pension currently in place-

    Current pension arrangements for new comers is 1/2 your career average salary- earned on the basis of 40 years served earned at the rate of 2/80s per annum- reduced by the prevailing rate of the Old Age Pension (by a formula known as COPC).

    You pay a pension contribution towards this- of 6-8% (new starts- others may be up to 10-12% depending on which pension scheme they are on).

    Annual leave depends on your rank/grade- and the number of years of service you have- typically you earn an additional day or two AL at year 10 and again at year 15. You need to find out what rank you're applying for- and what linkage it has to a comparable civil service post- to figure its leave entitlement.

    I'd also suggest you get the salary scale for the post when you're talking to them- and the good folk here can figure what the CS grade its linked to fairly handily- which will give you a reasonable idea of entitlements.

    Anyhow- its 40 years service- for a full pension- and a full pension is half your average salary over the course of the 40 years- reduced by whatever the prevailing rate of the contributory old age pension might be (on the date your pension vests).

    Unfortunately- you may have an unduly rosy idea of pension rights/entitlements from the media- they're not nearly as generous as you might imagine them to be- but you need to do a little research to figure how it is applicable to you.

    It is a Grade 5 post with salary scale starting at €41,746 going up to around €59k. What would that entitle you to regarding annual leave.
