    Hi folks,

Parents are getting their heating system upgraded. Seems like a good company to deal with but want to check the quote they got. Surprised each item doesn't havea price associated with it. 18kw seems small for a boiler (3 bed semi-d, circa 100sqm, 7 rads)? I've a smaller house and I've a 25kw Combi. Any advice would be appreciated

    1.Decommission Existing Central Heating System

6.Supply and Fit 3EPH Motorised ControlValves
7.Supply and Fit EPH 7-Day 3-Zone Digital Timer
    8.Supply and FitWall Thermostat
9.Supply and Fit Carbon Monoxide Alarm
10.Supply and Fit Magna Clean Filter
11.Supply and Fit Stainless-SteelInsulated Hot Water Cylinder
12.Supply and Fit Hot Water Cylinder Thermostat
13.Fill System with Inhibitor to Protect Internal Pipe work
14.Connect to GasSupply and Fire System
    15.Balance Radiators
    16.Complete BER Certificate
    17.5Year Boiler Guarantee
    18.Cost of Installation€7,600.0019.
    Less Energia CarbonCredits€800.0020.
    Total PriceIncl. Vat€6,800.0021.

18kw is fine for 7 rads in a 3 bed.
Get a couple of quotes to compare it with,it isnt overly dear but its hard to say without seeing the job for variations such as gas lines to be moved ect

Thanks. Good to know it's not crazy expensive. I've advised them to get another quote but they're not overly confident about getting different companies in. I'm going to try to find other companies. Anyone willing to recommend via PM please do.

Gas line is to be moved (boiler from bathroom into attic). Flue out through roof + flashing. New pipes will be surface mounted as walls are solid masonry. They don't want to ruin expensive wallpaper job they had done a few years back.

Otherwise I don't believe the house presents any abnormal challenges. Bog standard 1980s semi d in Dublin. Good access everywhere including attic and suspended floors.

Would routing pipes behind skirting boards be normal when there is a suspended timber floor?

    Thanks!

One thing it does not mention is a power flush of the heating,i would be making sure this is included or happens either way

Sent them on some other plumbers' details and they got another quote which was cheaper and as RightJob! pointed out, he insisted on flushing system rather than putting in new pipework (which would have meant redecorating parts of two rooms). They are very happy, although they won't get another quote to compare to again!

    Thanks for input folks
