Lexus CT200 Hybrid

Am thinking of changing my current car. Would love to go either fully electric or maybe hybrid this time & then electric in a few year’s time.

The price & spec on the Lexus CT200 hybrid seem good. I’d like to stress that I’ve never owned a “luxury” brand car before, but compared to EGolf etc the Lexus looks like a good alternative!

Any thoughts? ( I really don’t want to go down the road of importing from the UK).

Don't have any firsthand experience of the CT200h, but they're basically a Prius in a pretty frock.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with that like. The Prius is a super-reliable car, and the Lexus just puts that air of quality over the reliability.

I think you're doing yourself a disservice by not going to the UK though. There's nothing to it, a better choice of cars, and vrt is very small with it being a hybrid.

I rode in a CT200h and a regular Golf when I went to England a few years ago, the Golf was far more comfortable and far better equipped, a lot more practical too. I've never seen a boot so shallow as in the CT, must be where they keep the hybrid motor. The CT200h looks nice on the outside and that's the most I can say for the car. Bear in mind, it is only one time that I got to experience the car.

The Toyota Auris is more like the ct200 and not the Prius. The Auris and ct200 have the same wheelbase.

The electric motor is beside the petrol engine under the front bonnet. The battery for the motor is under the back seats.

If going for a CT200, I'd suggest looking at the different variants. They start at S, SE, Luxury, FSport, Premier (I think there's a couple of others). I like the Premier but the FSport has some nice styling.

To get a nice spec ct200h you are looking at list of 39000 discounted to 36k. Looks fantastic in white or red or navy with a cream leather interior. Suspension is very hard. They depreciate heavily in the UK. Bargains to be had on 1-2 yr old cars you can save 10k plus.
The Prius has a better ride. Ct has a small boot. The 2018 model has some styling changes that make it look better. No way would I buy one new in Ireland although my sister did.

As mentioned, the boot is tiny, made worse by the fact that they’ve included a useless tray under the boot floor.

Thanks, everyone for your input! I think I’ll hold off for a while & see what else comes on the market. I’m not in a huge hurry, so I suppose I should be sensible & hold off until other options become available.

It all depends what you want. They look great in the right colour and bulletproof reliability. My sister loves hers. People are always looking at it if that's your thing. Drive one.

I got mine (CT200H Advance - Red) in Belfast December 2016. It's a 151. They took my car off me on the day too. I saved probably 4 - 5k on buying the same spec and year, that's after paying VRT as well.

Great to drive, very comfy and 'plush' on the inside. Seats are savage. Mileage - about 4.8 / 5.0 litres per 100km

Infotainment (shudder) system is horrific to be fair. Even for a 2015 car it's a decade out of date.

Overall I love it. Will hold on to it for another 2 years I reckon and will go north again. Maybe get a RC or UX.

I wonder if those front seats would fit in my Prius, they are quite nice!
