Had a bit of a run-in with a curb today, and damaged the sidewall of a front tyre.

Would appreciate any advice on whether the tyre needs replacing?

    Thanks in advance.

Get rid of it, the wall has been weakened by the damage.

Replace it, only serves a safe place on a wheelbarrow now.

looks like scuffing to me , are there actual cracks / gouges etc in the rubber ?

There's a bit of the sidewall hanging off, the tyre is only fit for the bin.

The sidewall is torn and the impact was bad enough to damage the rim, that will have damaged the internal carcass of the tyre.
Unsafe to drive on is my opinion.

Thanks for all the feedback. Indeed, it's more than just a bit of scuffing, a little bit of the rubber is hanging off, although not very deep.

Anyway, I'll get tyre replaced. Thanks again everyone.
