Does anyone have a link to that site someone used to post here from time to time showing the number of new cars by type sold in Ireland each month...?

Interesting diesel is down 20% and petrol up by the same 20%.

Still more worrying is that diesel still accounts for 40% of the market, that's rather shocking but unsurprising and unnecessary for the majority of drivers.

Most people really don't care what comes out the exhaust, you could argue that the tax system is to blame , I'd agree for the larger cars but not for smaller cars, the difference isn't a lot these days.

    petrol/electric up 64% (hybrid)

    plug in up 108%

    And electric down 5%

It really goes to show that there is no interest in electric cars but there are far too few models to choose.

Interesting that the majority of cars sold were suv (ish) mini suv so interesting to see if the Kona EV gets much interest.

I wouldn't say there is no interest in electric cars, the figures for hybrid shows people are prepared to buy an electric but need the backup of petrol. If there was no demand for electric, then those hybrid would just be plain old petrol sales.

Again I think its range thats the issue. Once we have a true range of 250miles+ on EV only cars, sales will rise.

You mean plug-in , Shame the majority of them have such poor ev range though.

Increased hybrid sales I would say are down to people who don't want diesel and not arsed with either ev or plug in.

I think it shows the potential is there.

These people buying hybrids are dipping their toes in the EV world in a small way. At least it shows they are au fait with the whole issue.

I think once they are hybrid owners they are likely to become full EV owners rather than going the other way back to ICE only.

Some of them might be willing to go ev after but 40K diesels and 26 K petrol, 283 phev and 283 EV is really rather pathetic.

But together make up only 0.3 % of the market or 0.3% individually, Shocking.

We need a lot more ev models.....I really think that's a big issue, along with range of course.

And how many electric cars does Volvo hope to have on the road by 2025 (in the Last Word adverts).

All PHEV I think not fully electric.
