Hi, had the focus serviced in main dealer as it was on offer and they advised the brakes are 80% worn, which I suspected, and the discs need replacing also. Quoted €299 for the job.

I was hoping someone could perhaps comment on the quote and estimate what my local mechanic might charge for the same job?

Independent garage using non genuine parts would be rougly €185.

That seems dear. The parts is 100 or so (depending on brands, you can check on micksgarage.ie and similar sites).
Check with a few local indies, remember there is labour on top.

€299 would be a fair price for that work in a main dealer. There are cheaper options though, as above.
