    His wife certainly thinks so.

Steven Segal's wife Erdenetuya Seagal pay tribute to her husband on his birthday:
    From Elle Seagal
    .
    My darling husband,
    .
I couldn't be more proud of you today for having lived such wonderful life where you have achieved and accomplished so much in just one life time and you did it all with honor, love and truthfulness! .
Men like you are rare this day and age who are courageous enough to speak the truth and stand for the right, and compassionate enough to risk your life to fight evil!
You protect and heal the weak and the sick and you teach and lead the ignorant and the lost.
    .
Your true spirit, deep wisdom and undying love and devotion to mankind will always shine through darkness, jealousy and hatred! .
Your merit and life's work speaks for itself! Noone can take away what's yours and noone can change who you are! Thank you for remaining true to yourself and continuing to do what you do to make this world a better place!
    .
You are that sword that cuts through evil
You are that mountain that sits still through the storm
You are that star that shines the brightest
You are that fire that comforts all sentient beings
You are that voice that fake people fear
You are that truth that will lead people to peace
You are that wisdom that will awaken all people
You are that warrior who rises above all evil!
    .
Poeple who live without masks live long and happy lives and that's you!
    .
Wishing you a very Happy Birthday my love!
    .
    Your devoted wife,
    .
    Erdenetuya Seagal

You kind of have to love just how little self-awareness he has. He seems to think that he's some sort of intellectual genius even when for all intents and purposes the inside of his head appears to be quite similar to Homer's.

I've seen far too many of this DTV films for the simple fact that they are so charmingly incompetent. Seriously it's hard to put into words just how little Seagal or anyone else appears to care. He can't even be bothered to do any ADR and the filmmaker can's be bothered to get someone who even sounds like him.

What's worse, the stunt double who is a fraction of Seagal's size and weight, the awful acting or the ridiculous dialogue.

All that said, he is getting something of a second coming in Asia where his name seems to still have some pull. China Salesman looks garbage but it's been enough to ensure that he is going to be making a couple more films over there.

He also has a TV show out this year that seems to be going for a record of longest credits ever.

Also, the great one has written a book which is finally available again after being removed from amazon for some reason, I assume that was so that the worlds printing presses could all begin to manufacture The Way Of The Shadow Wolves: The Deep State And The Hijacking Of America

I'll say one positive thing about Seagal's career: the first Under Siege? Honestly, it's a legitimately enjoyable thriller, one of those early-mid 90s 'bottle' action films that clearly rode on the coat-tails of Die Hard's success, but stood on its own two feet without being a shameless, soulless rip off. Tommy Lee Jones was a great villain, Gary Busey suitably insane, and Seagal well utilised given his limitations that later became apparent.

He made a few good action films, even one of two of his later DTV films are worth a watch, the one with Eddie Griffin and the one in which he fights a transsexual witch or something are both a lot of fun. He just has far too big an ego and nothing to back it up and has never tried. Van Damme has spent the last decade or two trying new things, he's not always successful but with JCVD he proved that he was actually a decent actor, seriously his monologue is exceptional and he comes across really well. Lundgren has spent years working as a writer and director and delivered some genuine good films, Skin Trade is not just a great action film but also looks at sex trafficking in an interesting way. Seagal never really evolved, his lack of a single damn is clearly evident from the dreck he's made and with him about to revisit some of his earlier hits with sequels I can only imagine just how awful they are going to be.

I thought Under Siege was great. Even his earlier stuff had some great fight scenes that weren't your typical high kicking and jumping that was in style at the time.
The butcher shop fight scene in Out for Justice was brutally violent.

Ever hear the saying, don't brink a tank to a cock fight. You're not alone.

His first few films are brilliant and Out For Justice is simply an outstanding action movie. Nico, Hard to Kill, Marked for Death, Under Siege and The Glimmer Man are just a great watch. I would watch any of those films before I'd watch shyte like The Fast and the Furious movies or most superhero crap like Guardians of the Galaxy.

    ++1.
Under Siege and it’s sequel are actually decent enough, very quotable and they stand up to many a repeat viewing! The late ‘80’s and ‘90’s were a great 10-12 years for mindless but highly entertaining actioners and Seagal’s efforts were up there!

He still makes movies that treat him like a smoulderingly sexy, ass-kicking hero.....which would be fine, if he weren't outrageously fat, have a ridiculously bad hair piece, and now talks like he's a black man from the projects. Not sure if he knows he's being ridiculed in these movies and is OK with it for the sake of money, or just has an ego that huge that he still sees himself as credible.

Actual quotes from the last movie I saw "End of a Gun", whispered in ebonics: "You owe me that good pussy, girl" and "Man, I love me the **** outta some cookies".

That said I've seen most of them simply because they're such ridiculous fun for all the wrong reasons. Great with a few cans with friends.

Between him, Arnie and Stallone; what is it about these old action stars that they age so badly? It's all steroids, implants and hair dyed into unnatural hues. It's not like other Hollywood types don't indulge in self-denial, but not to the same extent IMO.

I don't think much of his professionalism these days, but at least Bruce Willis looks approximately his age. Maybe the early hair-loss helped dispense any notions some boot-polish hair dye would fool anyone.

I ended up falling down a hole of watching stuff on YouTube of other actors telling Steven Seagal stories, every actor seems to have a bizzare one about him. He claimed Liam Neeson didn't know how to throw a punch.

Re the ageing, I think Arnie looks ok for his age.

He's so multi-talented. Award winning actor (citation needed), novelist, Soviet PE Teacher, and blues guitar virtuoso.

Didn't his band play a gig here?? Or am I imagining that?

That said, his early films are great fun, Out For Justice, Nico, and Hard to Kill (my fave...).

“I'm gonna take you to the bank, Senator Trent. To the blood bank!”

Actually you just reminded me. I remember reading years ago (early 2000's) about how he wanted to star in a movie about Jimi Hendrix......... playing Hendrix. He said people would look the past the little fact that he isn't black and focus on the music.

I loved the one from a few years back where he was an archaeologist (can't remember the name now) who wore a leather jacket in every single scene. One scene has some bad guys break in to his house in the middle of the night, only to be confronted by Seagals character.... who is now wearing leather ****ing pyjamas! I remember it well because I nearly choked on my beer from bursting out laughing :D

At least Arnie and Stallone are in great shape. I wouldn't say any of that crew - to include Lundgren, van Damne, etc, have aged that badly at all and are still somewhat credible in the roles they continue to chose.

Seagal - outrageously out of shape with a hair piece that looks like used carpet samples - continues to play the same high-octane roles on paper, and the reality is nothing short of 'The Room' levels of comedy.
