I know of someone who had an inspection and he was fuming after it too. Guy more or less called him a liar during it. Don't know how it was all resolved but I'm sure if enough people complain about a certain individual, the dept would call him aside. Don't be afraid to complain.

    Our Customer Service Complaints Procedure
There are three steps in the customer service complaints process:
    1. Complaints should first be directed to the senior officer in charge of the business area within the Department to which the complaint pertains. Complaints received by the Quality Service Unit which have not been responded to by the Head of the relevant business area will be forwarded to that senior officer for direct reply.

    2. If the complainant is dissatisfied with the response received from the Head of the relevant business area, the complaint can be sent to the Quality Service Unit who will examine any customer service aspect of the complaint. The Quality Service Unit will have the matter fully and impartially investigated by an officer who was not involved in the matter giving rise to the complaint.

(Appeals against actual decisions taken in the operation of a scheme or service are dealt with, in the first instance, by a more senior officer in the Division where the original decision was taken and, if the complainant remains dissatisfied, may be subsequently referred by the complainant to the Agriculture Appeals Office).
The Quality Service Unit can be contacted at:
    Quality Service Unit
    Corporate Affairs Division
Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine
    Grattan House
    Grattan Business Park
    Dublin Road
    Portlaoise
    Co. Laois

Yeah but unfortunately people are afraid to complain in case it brings the wrath of the Dept upon themselves. I considered it with the way we were treated with TB but was advised against it by a mate who works for the Dept.

Man from dept couldn't have been more helpful

    These guys get bad press

I was more than happy to show my man around and he was brilliant in all his dealings

In fairness there are a lot of good people there. Just be straight up and they can be fair enough.

I had a full cross compliance inspection in the tail end of last year, and the two guys were very fair.
On the other hand, had dealings with the entitlements transfer section in Portlaoise, and by extension the SFP section, and their procedures and office practices were abysmal in the extreme.
No accountability and seemingly no overseers in any position of authority willing or able to take action on slipshod and negligent practices.

Worst Inspector in county Clare is not a "guy" patsy.
