St Annes Park is a Dog's Park now ?

Went to St Anne's Park at weekend with the kids and I have to say I was shocked at how infested it was with dogs. Actually I have nothing against dogs, dogs are dogs. I guess its the super proud owners that really are amusing.

I mean strutting around as if they had given birth to the dogs themselves... and in some cases this did look like a possibility : ) . Relax, only joking : )

It seems people pass each other without saying hello or showing any common courtesy these days unless you have a dog in tow, then they are nice to each other and feel its ok to have a chat afterall .. even if the owner looks like some kind of hipster serial killer : )

It's amazing how caught up people get in the latest trends : )

Yes it's my first post and some of you will label this a trolling post but genuinely curious of the mentality.

Anyway I think we should have a separate dog park so that the owners can walk the dogs and the poo without taking over the main park.

St. Anne's has a dog park where they can run around off-lead.

I don't see the problem when people are walking their dogs as long as they're on a lead. Granted I hate it when people don't clean up after their dogs and see why this is annoying but once people clean after their pups and don't let them run havoc it's all good.

Infested? Seriously? I think you should change your username.

Probably the people with dogs are much happier so tend to be more chatty & say hello & interact more.

Oh the dog walkers usually walk in all weather all year round so you will probably find that it is actually the non dog owners that actually take over when the Sun comes out.

St Annes is a DCC park where dogs are allowed off lead at certain times in all areas not just in the dog pen.. Some owners like to leave them off in the stables which is irritating but I've had more kids bounce balls off our table or crash into us with scooters than dogs annoying us there to be fair..

What exactly is your problem - are you annoyed because somebody didn't say hello to you or your kids? One of my dogs is afraid of kids so I personally avoid them like the plague because I don't want 'OOOOOOH DOGGY' brats running up to us and freaking her out while daddy day care has one eye on his phone/leaves them to their own devices while he goes in for a coffee.

*Polite kids with manners are always welcome but can be few are far between. We tend to stick to the same walking times though so are lucky to meet the same few lovely kids each week that come and ask to pet the dogs.

You do have the option of containing your children in the child pen playground if you don't want anyone else without kids bothering you ;)

EDIT - actually what's your solution for people who have **SHOCK HORROR** both dogs and kids? I guess lump them all into the dog pen as dogs aren't allowed in the other one? :P:P:P

Usually it's people giving out about the irresponsible owners. Now if you're a "super proud" owner, it gets peoples backs up?

You do realise that for a lot of owners, that their dogs are part of their family? Perhaps some of these people can't have kids, or are single without a family, or an older person and their dog is their constant companion. What business is it of yours if people love their pets?

Dog owners do tend to meet and greet each other, a bit like parents will chat in a playground, or barflys will chat in a pub. I certainly don't say hello to everybody I walk past.
It's amazing how caught up people get in the latest trends : )
Dog ownership isn't a "latest trend". People have owned dogs for thousands of years as work and companion animals. Pet ownership isn't a fad, so I'm bemused as to why you think it's a "trend".

There's dog owners and non dog owners. Dog owners are less stressed, more laid back, and generally happier people. Dog ownership for children develops empathy and a sense of responsibility. It's fairly obvious where you stand.
Anyway I think we should have a separate dog park so that the owners can walk the dogs and the poo without taking over the main park.
There's plenty of places where dogs are still not welcome. I would suggest you frequent these places rather than trying to enforce your own idea of what a park should be for.

Just as an aside - if you are ever unlucky enough to be in need of a guide/service/assistance dog for you or any of your family, and were lucky enough to be a recipient, you would understand very very quickly just how much dogs can enhance peoples lives.

You already have separate areas though for kids? Most playgrounds do not allow dogs.

It would be pretty silly to ban on lead dogs in a dog park, their owners are also legitimate users of a dog park just as much as you are. They also tend to be heavy users of parks and use them in the winter, rain etc so it would be a big inconvenience.

Not to mention there are already precious few areas that allow dogs. So they have fewer other options than you.

Dogs have to be exercised and socialized and trained. I think people are getting a bit more responsible and thus take their dogs out more. I notice fewer biting dogs around than I used to.

People with shared interests talk to each other more. But I do find people, including non dog people, approach me more when I have a dog anyway and have noticed the same with a baby. I don't think those who do not say hello are being impolite, just doing their own thing.

Or maybe picking up the ‘I hate dog/dogs eat kids’ vibes and keeping the head down lol!
