Just wonder has anyone fertiliser out on Silage ground yet. Soil temps are down, grass growth is poor. Would you hold and let a little growth come, I know things will improve this week or should we go out now with an outboard on tractor on and life jacket.

Put a bag of 30.6.0 urea out a fortnight ago and it seems to have kicked growth off a bit, but it’s going to get the full coating in the next few days.

This should be an interesting thread!!!!
Silage ground was grazed till 1st Jan with sheep. Got 2500 gals slurry 6 weeks ago. Hope to go with 80 units nitrogen next week and cut by 30th May. Quality and quantity will be down. Trying to balance both

Yea i got 3000 gallons of slurry per acre out about three weeks ago on the silage ground. Very poor results. It is slightly greening nothing else really. I want to have it cut for the 1st of June as well but its getting more unlikely every day. The place is swimming its going to take a week to dry. I have 27-2.5-5 and 3.5 S in yard ready to go. I will go with 80 units to the acre also. Last night made a mess of everything i would be going out with it tomorrow if we didn't get the rain

I wouldnt be panicking yet, at least you got the slurry out. If you get the fert out in 7-10 days you'll be grand for cutting on Jine1st.

Hopefully put out 3 bags of 27-2.5-5 and 3.5 S Wednesday if I can get cows out even for a few days next week also to skin it.

Would I be looking for trouble as regards embryo loss grazing off this ground soon after fert is applied?

Silage ground has gotten 5000 gals of slurry in jan

    3 bags 0-7-30 with sulphar
And 90 units of sulphar urea

Green as hell and waiting for sun

There's disagreement about This, my own advisor would be against grazing it but plenty more say the risk.is minimal.

Same as that, except I didn't get any bag manure out. But all the ground that got slurry is rich green and growing. The rest of the farm has gone yellow brown and is crying out for some fertilizer to feed it.
If only we could get a couple of dry days to drain away all the rain.
Any place that gets some fertilizer from now on will have grass explode when the heat hits it

Nothing out on it yet. Have to graze it first which I hope to do later this week.

Have one good field of grass. Have enough silage for 2 weeks. Would I be aswell to Graz it first before applying fertiliser or put urea on it today to really get things moving? .

Nothing out but maybe next week. Will aim to cut mid June with such poor weather and growing rates. Big trouble will be second cut but that's a problem for Autumn.

Had Easter pencilled in for it. No good. Spent the weekend eating easter eggs.

Yesterday was to be the day. But you'd get lost in closhes on the road never mind the field. Went for breakfast with family in local Cafe. Eggs and sausages on now.

A fodder crisis of a different kind perhaps, but I'II be as fat as a fool shortly if this weather doesnt take up!!
