Retrofitting pump for shower

Can anyone tell me how easy/difficult it is to put in a pump for a shower? Buying a new build and the plumber is recommending putting in a pump for the showers in ensuite and main bathroom. Budget is a bit tight at the moment so hoping it's something I can do a few months down the line.
