    Hi,
Sorry if this isn’t in the right place as I’m a first time user. I’m in TY at the moment and I’m strongly considering medicine. I know it will be tough but I’m very determined and a hard worker.
I just have a few questions as no one seems to have the answers I’m looking for. Any answers and opinions greatly appreciated😊

    1) How hard isn’t the hpat? Is there anything I can do to prepare for it?

    2) I’m from Galway so I’d like to go to NUIG. What’s the course like? How many hours per week? How much study?

    3) Is premed worth it? What are the hours and study like?

    4) I’m very athletic and play a lot of camogie. Would I still have time for training/ matches etc?

    Hi
My daughter is studying medicine in Nuig.
She did premed and was delighted as she needed the year after studying so hard for the Leaving Cert and sitting the Hpat .
You will definitely need to prepare for Hpat . She did an on line course and attended a couple of workshops. It was so worth it . She's very happy and likes Galway . She has another 3yrs but not much free time . It would be helpful if you spoke to someone doing the course . I know she wouldn't mind helping you out and answering questions if that would help . Best of luck . Follow your dream

Thanks a million! I’ll definitely look into some prep so for the hpat. I know a student in premed who can hopefully give me a bit of an insight. Really appreciate the reply😊

I went to the one a few weeks ago and found the talk on medicine really interesting and beneficial!

Cant comment on how hard HPAT is but there's plenty of prep courses advertised if you need extra assistance.
How much study really is up to you....
From talking to friends and those on society committees ive been a member of(med dominated societies) yes you would have time to play camogie or be involved in societies. Again all depends on how you manage the work/study. Its easy to cut back if you cant manage them.
All info on hours is on NUIG website im fairly sure. If want more info try the Medicine societys facebook page and they'll show you where to go for more info
