Breast and armpit pain question

For the last 2 months I have been having sharp breast pain and pain under my arms. I haven't found any lumps. Went to see my GP 3 weeks ago and she sent on a referral for a mammogram. The pain is now in my back and it's waking me at night. I have rang private clinics but unfortunately it's over €500 to see a consultant and have mammogram. The pain is really bothering me now.

Can I go to A&E with this complaint? Will they do tests or send me home to wait for one?

    Thank you.

It might be good to ring the Irish Cancer Society helpline 1800 200 700. They have an online community on http://cancer.ie also if you don't want to talk on the phone.

I hope you get some advice to ease your worry.

Chase up your referral with the breast clinic. Tell the nurse about your new symptoms.

Amongst other Body-parts, I have Breast / Chest / Ribs / Arm-pit Pain. Have been diagnosed with Chronic Pain and Chronic Fatigue, suggestive of Fibromyalgia. The Arm-pit area is in unbelievable pain. It's not like actually in the Arm-pit, it's more the fatty "Bingo-wing" area the underside of the Arm. I find with the Arm-pit being in pain, it really knocks the wind out of me and leaves me breathless. Whereabouts on/in arm are you experiencing the pain?

A gynaecologist should also be able to give you advice regarding breast conditions, as lots of the pain may be hormone-related - maybe it'd be easier to get an appointment with a gynaecologist?

Actually, that was what I was told by the senologist when I went for my mammography, so it's not as weird as it seems. Anyway, what's my being a mod in other forums have anything to do with this?
