Breakdown cover

I used to get an annual breakdown policy when I serviced my car in the main dealer.
However I no longer use that garage and my insurance doesn't include it and it's 9 months until renewal.

Are there any reasonable companies offering nationwide breakdown cover? The AA appear expensive and any threads are quite old on the subject.

I looked into this maybe 5 years ago now by searching a few threads. I remember someone mentioned a company in Germany who provided breakdown cover internationally. I was looking to get it as would be driving a lot in France. It was far cheaper than the AA I think amd quite good he reckoned. I never got it tho so details are sketchy. Threw a towing bar in the boot and prayed the sh1t out if it on the boat over.

It was probably ADAC unfortunately they are no longer accepting new business for clients outside Germany.

Why do you consider the aa to be expensive? I've found them to be great value personally.
