Am interested in getting the new version of this van. Spoke to dealer in Boyle yesterday just to enquire when they'd be available to have a look at, was told that they'd prob not be available until July, and that they'd be priced starting @ €31K  The present one is priced at €25K, six grand is a bloody huge difference.

Is there a grant to come off that figure?

I'd say 31k would be the price with the 40kw battery.

Still a ridiculous price. Diesel NV200 is about €13k brand new

    Linky

Only an ecomentalist would pay €30k for an eNV200.

That €13k is you quoted is slightly disingenuous since it's before VAT/VRT and includes €4k scrappage. The full retail cost is €19,400. Also that's for the commercial panel van version whereas I think the €31k the OP was quoted might have been for the 7 seater "Family MPV" version. Bit of an apples to oranges comparison really.

A van is a business tool, it is common for any business item pricing to be ex VAT.

What makes you think the OP is talking about a 7 seater MPV? He wants to get a van. That's what he said. He's not talking about getting a people carrier.

Either way even 21k (ex VAT) is ridiculous if you can get it for 13k as a diesel.

And don't get me wrong here. My own family car is an EV. For which I paid about the same as a similar size, similar spec diesel car would have cost. And there is scope for an EV to be a little bit more expensive than a diesel, but only if the extra price pays for itself within a few years in cheaper fuel, cheaper maintenance, etc. Cheaper TCO.

Again the €13k is including €4k scrappage so you're not comparing like with like. I didn't say the OP was looking for a MPV, I said I think the €31k the OP was quoted might have been for the 7 seater "Family MPV" version. The reason I say that the current 24kWh van can be had for €21k and I don't believe Nissan are going to slap an extra €10k on it just for the larger battery. They haven't for the Leaf so why would they for this? I'd double check the price the dealer gave the OP was for the commercial van and not the passenger version. Either that or the grant wasn't deducted.

I phoned up and asked about the eNV200 electric van, there was no mention of 7 seats in the conversation. From the chat I had I came away believing the following.

    1. The price quoted was for a van - not MPV
    2. The price quoted was inclusive of VAT
    3. The price quoted was inclusive of the grant.

Now I'll have to get confirmation on the VAT issue, but if it were ex VAT I'd have a stroke, that would put the cost up to €38K+ !

At present we have a Berlingo Van, and replacement for that is looking at €18K ish, so difference of €13K

Over 5 years we have put up 140K Km
Fuel costs are about €250.00 per month
Serviced 2 to 3 times per year

Does it make economic sense to go electric on the Van assuming that the €31K price is inclusive of VAT? I'd think it just about does.

They’ve actually got their figures wrong there, it’s even cheaper, should be €15400 inc VAT so €12500?
Knowing Nissan, there’s probably €1000 delivery charge, but Nissan website says it’s €18400 pus delivery,

New Nissan NV200 1.5 DSL 110 Hp 6 Speed in Red
    Retail Cost € 19,400 inc vat+vrt
    Scrappage € 4,000 inc vat
    Cost to Change € 13,333 Net +vat ( € 16,400 inc vat )

Anyway, the regular NV200 is an outdated joke of a thing that nobody wants. The electric one would be better if it was based on any other van in that class.

I take it the battery in the new eNV200 would suffer from the same issues as the battery in the new leaf?

No. The van has active cooling, even in the old version.
