Man brought the skoda octavia to main dealer for the service and asked about a sat nav update and was told it would cost 100 euro to do it. Is there a way to do it ourselves?

http://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/en/ should find the details in there, if not Google briskoda for a useful skoda user group

It's 2015. Not sure does it have a sd card or disc yet. I think they can get 2 free updates but the main dealer wanted 100 euro to do it.

Often see them on Ebay selling SD cards to update them, range from about £20 upwards.

A 2015 will need an SD card. To be fair the sat nav is extremely bad in them and an update won't make it any better.

2015 would assume it's one of the Amundsen heads, downloadable updates but be warned, it can take quite a while and you need to follow the instructions or risk bricking the sd card, also you CAN NOT use any sd card, it must be as supplied by Skoda.

Can I not use the sd card that's in it and put the updated maps on it. I think it's 25gig to download it. Yea it can be a bit tricky to do it, im just wondering is it worth doing.

Well there is a rather long stretch of motorway added in the west in the last few months

It might take another year before it appears on satnav maps.
