Tax is up at the end of this month. Myself and my mam drive the car (car is registered in her name) she works full time. Can I walk into the tax office and tax the car myself? I am insured to drive the car. I've left it quite late so don't want to do it online because I'd be waiting a while for the disc to be issued

Go in, fill out the form and pay it. You won't have a problem.

Yeah you can tax the car yourself.
The form for motor tax will need your insurance policy number that you can get from the insurance disc in the car.
Some people just make a number up on the spot, but I suggest you use the real policy number from the disc for peace of mind
