How do you know if your solicitor is any good?

    Hi there,

My wife had an accident in 2011 and 7 years later we are still waiting on a personal injury claim to work out. Now I'll admit it is a very complicated case (it was entirely the fault of the third party, and we are looking for lost earnings and future earnings as it totally derailed my wife's specialist career), but it is wrecking our heads that it is taking so long. Solicitor seems to be doing the right things, but it's dragging on and on, and we are losing faith. I've never had any dealings much with solicitors in the past, so how do we know if our guy is any good?

when you say we are looking for loss of earnings, does that you were both injured?

are you using the same solicitor? they may be dragging their heels in order to bill more to the insurance company when it's time to get their costs.

Oh ok, sorry I should be a bit clearer. She had the accident and it's her loss of earnings/future earnings.

it might not hurt to give them a call. 7 years is a long time to be waiting to be compensated.

    best of luck.

I'm waiting just under that amount but due to the mess surrounding setanta insurance it's still not getting sorted.

I would call up or email the solicitor and keep in touch with them.

See what they have to say because I'm sure they are interested to get it sorted as to get paid also.

Suggest you ask your solicitor for a written report on the status of your case. Progress in legal actions is often held up by factors outside your solicitor's control.
Sorry we cannot help you on this forum. Therefore closing this thread.
