Is snagging date a moveable feast

We have bought a new build terrace in a small estate and have been told by the builder that it will be ready for snagging on 23 April and to line up our snagger for that day. We visited the house this morning and while it is all done cosmetically on the outside, it looks like a building site on the inside. It has been wired but not yet plumbed and there are no internal walls up yet, no bathrooms, no kitchen fitted,no stairs in yet. The builders are still insisting that it will be ready for snagging in less than four weeks.
The reason the date is so important is that my partner has a new job opportunity but can't take it until our mortgage has been drawn down. We therefore do need some certainty as to when we can close. Does anyone have any thoughts as to whether all of the above work could realistically be done by 23 April bearing in mind that six other houses at the same stage of readiness have also been told to expect to be snagged that week.

4 weeks is a long time on a construction site and especially in a terraced house.
When is the job start date?

As the time from snagging to hand over could be another month or 2 allowing for completion certs with the council and legal process.

Everything is a moveable feast with a new house. If it is not delays with construction, there will be solicitors acting the maggot.

It really is a how long is a piece of string situation. It all depends on the builders. I have snagged 12 houses on one particular developmemt which were spot on with the date every time & other developments that changed the inspection date 3 times! I do hope your buying in one of the more organised developments as your head could be wrecked by the time your finished!
