Hi guys, one of our lads is getting some strange noises from his car (I laugh myself as I type), there's a humming noise (loud in the car) at motorway speed - seems to be from driver's front, it seems to come and go, quiet for first few miles, then starts, then disappears (or our ears tune it out lol).

My first impression was some bodywork etc rubbing on a tyre, checked and there's usual around the tyres, the car handles fine and tracks well, I thought it might be a wheel bearing but the local garage said it was ok; car also passed NCT with this, I'm at a loss; any suggestions???
