    Hey guys,

I've searched unsuccessfully for the answer to the following question...that I should probably just ask a plumber to come and quote me on.

I've currently got a back boiler fire that heats 7 rads (3 doubles and a towel).

How expensive would it be to convert the current system to a dual system ie add OFCH?

Would you guys recommend any particular boiler?

Would I be talking closer to €2k or closer to €6k?

Grant vortex or grant euroflame are the best boiler in my opinion.you will also need a new twin coil cylinder.it depends on the layout, best get a price from a plumber.

I fitted a grant vortex with a stanley stove controlled by a system link set up. Works brilliantly and my fuel bill including oil and solid fuel is less than 800 for the year. If you can afford it get a stove and rip out the back boiler. Best thing i ever did. Rule of thumb, get 3 registered plumbers in a get them to quote the exact same job. Don't forget you can claim back some of your money but you need to have your paper work in order before you start.

    Thanks guys.

Quick question chuck re the stove. Is the stove connected to the rads too? I presume it isn't when you said you tore out the back boiler.

I was thinking about getting a back boiler stove put in too. They're pricy enough though.

Stove cost €1600 and has a boiler which will heat 8 rads or ten with a raging fire plus hot water. Fitted it myself so I've no idea what a builder/plumber would charge. Personally for the look and functionality mine was worth every penny but i have a free supply of timber
