New build: Alarm Options Needed

I've been tasked with finding an alarm system for a family friend who recently built a new house. The house was prewired for internal PIRs however the windows they selected were extremely expensive and if drilled will void the 20 year(?) warranty that comes with the windows. What options are there for someone who wants to get a house alarm who cannot drill windows or put screws into the wood or is there even an option. While they always intended on getting a burglar alarm installed they weren't aware at the time that the windows they selected could prevent them from getting an alarm installed.

While its not an every day case for people surely they're not the only people who could run into this scenario whereby new builds with warranties might run into this issue? Any suggestions welcomed

    Easy peasy.
If I were doing this I would simply bond the sensors in place with Tec7.
That way the windows are not drilled and the sensors are held firmly in place.

Don’t let companies such as PhoneWatch convince you that inertia shock sensors aren’t worth the cost.

    Thanks 2011.

I thought of this general work around and maybe I'm making it more awkward than it needs to be but I get the magnetic contact on the window but what about the other piece that it would connect with- just do the same?

I personally would prefer a wired alarm because there's less maintenance involved but am I being silly not considering a wireless unit too. The wireless alarm that I've had experience with would have been installed in 2005 (Jablotron JA60E control panel if that makes any difference) so I'd imagine things could only have improved since then. I'll be the one called upon to change batteries etc in future so I want to make it as painless and maintenance free as possible.

Exactly. It will take a bit of patience but it’s worth it.

Wired is always best but you don’t always have the option.
Wired has a number of other advantages.

Only if you can’t install the cables. The great thing about a hybrid system such as HKC is that you can mix and match wired and wireless as required. Battery life from HKC wireless sensors is excellent too.

    Best of luck with it.
