Medical bills split between two tax years. How to claim?

Hi. I recently had a baby and when privately. I paid half the consultant fee in 2017 when I got pregnant and I paid the remainder on the birth of the baby in February. When claiming back medical fees through revenue can I only claim the amount paid in 2017 for that tax year and then do I have to wait until next year to claim the amount I paid this year? Or can I claim it altogether now as one total?

Claim the expenses made in 2017 against 2017 tax year, you can claim money spent on medical expenses in 2018 this time next year.
If you send in receipts if requested with a 2018 date, they would be sent back to claim next year.
