    Its a 1.2 petrol, 5 speed.

It has not been used for about 3 months and i got in today, started it up no problem but it wont go into any gear. It will go some of the way into reverse but then gives a grinding sound.

Never had a problen with the gears before. 90K KM's on the clock.

Clutch seems to have the same feel as before.

    Any ideas?

The car is in Neutral but I can't push it forward or backwards.

When the car's engine is switched off, can you put it in and out of the gears?

If so and it only refuses to go into gear with the engine running I'm thinking it would be a clutch issue.
Being laid up for the few months, it's possible the clutch plate is sticking to the flywheel and not disengaging properly when you press it.

If the clutch pedal felt unusually soft or funny, it could be an airlock in the system of a fluid leak but since you say it feels like it is pressing down normally it is probably ok in that regard.

Thus I would suggest you do the following to see if it helps
    - With the engine switched off place the car into first gear (press the clutch to put it in gear)
    - press the clutch down fully and leave the handbrake pulled up
    - with the clutch still pressed down, start up the engine. (If the clutch was sticking, starting in this way forces the two parts of the clutch to disengage forcefully and it should work OK then if sticking is the problem)

Try to release the rusted brakes by rocking car back and forth.
When the car moves freely try the gears again.

Don't park with handbrake on if you plan to leave it sitting. Park in a gear instead and/or block the wheels.

Sure rusted stuck brakes shouldn't stop it going into gear.....

And yeah, OP my car gets the rear drum brakes seizing up even if it's left for less than a week.

Thanks for the help/replies. The brakes were stickng. Was able to get it into gear with the engine off and then was able to free the brakes. All fine now. Will leave the handbrake off in future if its not going to be used.
