granite worktop stain removal

I left a container with water in it on our recently installed granite worktop & overnight the water seeped through the container leaving a puddle of water on the worktop. This circular stain did not wipe off. There must be something else other than water in it....whatever substance the container was made from. Any suggestions for removing it?

Try using squeezed lemon juice or orange to remove water stain. I've used it before to lift hard water marks on granite, tried everything until lemon did the trick. Let is know how you get on!

I've used washing up liquid (first thing to hand) and then a paste with bicarbonate of soda. Plenty of scrubbing too. Stain has lightened in colour but still visible. Will contact worktop supplier today for advice.
