L&B kicked off their All Ireland Four Ball campaign against Royal Tara yesterday........and there ended the 2018 run :)

At one point we were up in all the matches (3 @ RT, 2 at L&B) but on the back nine at RT the home team hit their stride and delivered wins in all matches and so progress.

Well done and good luck to them.

As a side note, it was a glorious afternoon for golf yesterday.

I've moved clubs recently and after a good year last year I've decided to put my name forward for Junior Cup and Jimmy Bruen this year. The Ulster Jimmy Bruen qualifier is in 3 weeks and i haven't seen any sign up sheets around the club so I yesterday I spoke with our comp secretary to see what the craic is (PP sheets and other comps have been up for a few weeks). Was given the number of the team's captain so thought i'd send him a text. Reply was basically, Welcome to the club. I've got my 5 pairs but i'll keep you in mind.

So lower handicap limit has moved from 6 to 5 which i assume has opened doors to include a few better golfers in our club and it seems to me like this guy is going with the same team as last year or has maybe included a few new guys that he already knows.

Fairly disappointing that the opportunity for a trial wasn't offered or no advertisement was made around the club.

    Each captain to their own.

Sorry to hear about your disappointment though. I must admit when it came to picking the teams I wanted, I called up the guys I wanted on the team, see if they were available and/or interested and if they werent moved on to the next unsuspecting victim. I never put up sign-up sheets

At least you've done the right thing. You've put yourself in the frame with the captain and now you need to shot some scores in competitions and make him pick you
