Dirt inside the headlight lens

    Hi,

I failed the NCT because the tester said he could not get a picture of the headlights during the test. He told me to give them a polish, and I used the old baking soda and toothpaste methods and they came up well.

Problem was, once I cleaned them I realised there is residue around the reflective part of the passenger side headlight, on the inside, I then noticed the cover was missing from the back of the lense, so dirt must have been getting in.

Any opinions on if they NCT will fail me during the retest. If you stand back from the car you can see the difference from a few feet away. I will post a picture if that would give someone a better idea, but thought I would ask her before buying a new headlight lense and having to remove the bumper and part of the trim to replace it.

    Any opinions would be appreciated.

The reason the inside of the lens is cloudy/dirty is because of the heat of the bulbs. I'm afraid the only way to solve this is either remove them, bake them in an oven to soften the glue seal and take them apart, polish the inside and put them back together or replace them.
