My Shih tzu hates getting her nails clipped. Any groomer if have brought her to is too afraid to go at them as he bites. It is her front paws and is getting long.

Is there anything I can get to knock her out for a while to clip her nails?

I have two Shih Tzu girls the same... hate having their front paws touched but over the years I have been firm with them and they grudgingly allow me to do it if necessary. Walking them on my lane seems to keep them short enough.

Only the vet can do what you ask. It seems common enough to give them a 'soother', especially on anxious animals, mine have had them when being treat for cuts and grazes. I would leave it to them, especially as there is not much room between a neat cut and a painful snip drawing blood.

Only a vet can sedate a dog. Some dogs really just hate having their nails done but if you get them cut, I’d advise working on desensitise him to it. Show him the clippers without going near his paw, loads of yummy treats, touch his paw for a second more treats etc etc.
One thing I’ve found great for clipping grumpy dogs nails is to use a buster collar (cone of shame) just gives the bit of confidence that they can’t swing and bite you and doesn’t stress out dogs as much as a muzzle does :D
