    Hey all:

Looking for a suitable doggy day care or dog walker in the Cork City area for my 8yo male Shih Tzu.

It'll be for 3-4 days a week Monday -Weds/Thurs. My dog is fully vaccinated and well socialised. Ideally, the walker/day care should be Garda checked.

I use The Bark Park in Blackppol. Not sure they are garda checked. Not sure they have to be tbh. My fella absolutely loves it up there.

Wouldnt bother with Creedons. Found them unpleasant to deal with.

Garda checked to walk/mind a dog. Is that really where we are now?

If that person has access to my home, then yes. Anything else?

Jesus I never thought of that, crikey I'd be fairly weary about it TBH.

Out of curiosity have you used vetted dog walkers before?

Yes, I have. My current walker can't do the job any more, hence the thread. She is Garda vetted.

Also heard great things about The Bark Park! I'd send my dog there if I had one in Cork.

Lots of people use cleaners. They have access and are not Garda vetted. A recommendation from someone known would be fine.

And your point would be? I'm not looking for a cleaner. And I am not 'lots of people'. I think you're looking for an argument. And I am not prepared to engage you.

Thank you to all who contributed positively. I really appreciate it :) I've also heard of the Bark Park which is close to me. I'll give them a call.

Not looking for an argument at all. Point is, that it Garda vetting is really intended for every job that involves interacting with others/being in others homes.

    http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/employment/employment_rights_and_conditions/monitoring_and_surveillance_at_work/garda_clearance_for_employees.html

Mainly meant for child interaction and as it says vulnerable adult care. Not for dog minders/cleaners/painters/gardeners, etc, etc. etc It just struck me a waste of Garda resources vetting someone for a job like this. Anyway...point made. I'll leave ye to it.
