single farm payments

    My neighbour was looking to rent out about 30 acres.Can you tell me what grants are available ?Is it only single farm payments?Who would get these payments?The farmer letting the land or myself if I rented it out.

    That all depends on the deal thrashed out. Most deals about here at the moment see the BPS being paid to the land owner.

    Thanks if the land owner keeps the land idle does he get any annual payments?

    You're supposed to keep the land in good agriculture condition, but there's only a 3 or 4% inspection so there's only a small chance of inspection.
    Apparently satelite inspection is supposed to flag any land that isn't being cut or grazed.
    Whoever farms the land gets the payment, however they must have Entltlements to it, so if the owner owns the Entitlements they can rent the entitlements to the farmer and he pays for the use of the entitlement while drawing down the subsidy,
    Going rate for renting Entitlements is about 60 - 70% of the value, although some owners demand the full entitlement

    Just to clarify the farmer can get single farm payments without cattle as long as he keeps land cut etc.

    Yes for the ANC scheme which is now no longer. So a minimum stocking requirement isn't necessary? Can someone confirm this is correct?

    Anc is still there for 2018 as before,its status is changing from 2019

    For northern Ireland 2018 is the last payment.
