Apologise if asked before, wife asked to work today normal hours but she taught it was a bank holiday and would get extra pay for working today but her employer is treating it as a normal working day and has said paddy’s day was the bank holiday and that she is only entitled to an extra days annual leave at a later date.
She was really expecting to be off today the same as most office jobs.

Saturday was a public holiday... today is a bank holiday...all public hols are bank hols.. but not vice versa....you are entitled to public hols off...she is entitled to an extra days leave or to get a days extra pay...but not entitled to a day off I'm afraid.

Most people are getting today off in lieu of Saturday (the public holiday). In your wife’s case, she’ll get it as an extra day off later. Legally, the employer is correct.

Saturday was the public holiday. Legally today is nothing. It happens to be a bank holiday, but only public holidays are covered in legislation.

Ok thanks for clearing up the little bit of confusion..she would have preferred the double pay today but is still getting the extra day holidays at a later stage.
    Thanks again

Same as this year, not legally entitled to the Monday off
