Hi all, couldn't find a thread that answered my question. When you sign off with Social Welfare do you have to tell them the company you're going to?

I ask because I'm with Turas Nua, they had no input in this job at all and I don't want them to find out from social welfare where I'm working. I'm just going to cut contact with turas nua completely and not tell them anything. I dont' want them getting commission for it when I'm the one that's been busting my balls over a number of months to get this job.

    Thanks

    Hi there,
You are under no obligation to tell them where you are working, all they they care about is that you don't continue to receive benefits while earning. When you sign off you are closing your claim and ending your relationship with them, they won't care where you have found employment.

As for Turas Nua, you are dead right to cut them off. I would block their number and emails and forget about them. Congrats on the job

I went back to my old job recently which obviously had sweet FA to do with TN..They were mad to find out where I was going to work so as to claim their fee from the tax payers.. I sent a letter to SW just stating I was signing off , as I never gave TN my phone number or email (told them I had neither) I haven't heard a word from them or SW

Jobpath another discrace,Signed off when I found myself a job which was all by my own effort and nothing to do with them.Recently I was informed by my boss that someone was inquiring about me from these vultures and they did not know what to do.How dare they intimidate me or my employer.Something has to be done about this.

I informed them that I had a interview to keep them of my back as they said they were going to report me to the social stating I wasn't looking for work.I told them I had the interview in a particular place in Wicklow and they obviously put two and two together when I got the position for this company in my local town. The main store for the company is in A certain place in Wicklow but they have several shops in Dublin and Meath. They obviously where ringing around certain shops to see was I there.

If you’re employer has any sense he won’t share any information whatsoever about you when you started or even that you’re there. That would be a breach of personal and private information on his part of he did. You could probably sue him into oblivion if he did.
