The gym has me bigger (woman) severely stressed?

I joined the gym 8 weeks ago. I was a size 6 last October and 8 weeks ago was a size 8. It didn't bother me too much, I just thought ok I'll go to the gym and will get back to my little petite size I always was.
I feel so gutted, slowly over the past 2 months I have GOTTEN BIGGER! I now don't fit into my size 8 clothes anymore. I am not joking. I go to the gym for 5 days per week for 1 hour. There I do a mixture of cardio and weights as instructed by a gym instructor who has me following a plan. My arms are muscley but they are still the same visable size as they were when I had the flab. My legs are muscley but chunky.
I can't believe this is happening to me. I joined the gym to get back into my nice size 6 clothes again and here I am getting bigger. The only thing that has improved is my stomach, it is harder than before. But overall I look BULKIER? My very honest sister told me I was "thinner" before the gym and to the regular eye, a person who knows me would think I've put on weight.
    What am I doing wrong?

I know I am not FAT, but I am no longer "thin". I am big now. And I don't like this. I don't care that others might think a girl who's muscley is sexier. I don't like it.

In 8 weeks, the gym hasn't made you bulkier.

You don't put on muscle by accident and certainly not in 8 weeks. Check your diet.

I am eating the same as I've always eaten and I am no longer thin, I am definitely bulkier as I'm finding my jeans hard to go up my legs and my arms will not slide into my tops anymore

Unless you're taking testosterone, you're not bulkier.

If you are, bottle whatever you're doing because plenty of bros will buy it

Maybe alot of water retention in muscles ? If I take a break from lifting for a few weeks, I find my jeans fit better.

More cardio, less weights and lower calorie intake. The last part is easier said than done.

I think Alf is right, 8 weeks would be phenomenal progress, particularly for someone who clearly never gained weight easily beforehand (previously a size 6).

But to play devil's advocate, can you briefly describe your weight lifting program? For example, what number of reps would you be doing in a given set? Has anything at all changed in your diet, like the amount of protein?

I think it's safe to say we're being had. "Flabby" at size 8 and has seen phenomenal gainz after eight weeks or cardio mixed with weights. Sure.

Agreed. The OP was talking about doing the leaving cert a few weeks ago, then getting married and then travelling around Ireland to visit castles with links to the queen.

OP also is doing the Leaving Cert, has a bipolar mother, and has had 150 declines for her wedding.
