    Hello,

My car has been off road notification (SORN) for the last 9 months. I am now looking to put it back on the road. It's last NCT expired 11th June 2017. So at the moment it does not have a current NCT. Just wondering would anyone know if the voluntary early testing would apply in my case. Can I get this tested before June and get a full year NCT cert or if I get it tested now would the NCT only be valid until June?
Thanks in advance for any replies.

Its possible it'd be valid until June 2019 because it's within 90 days.

    I'm not sure though.

    No.
Voluntary early testing wouldn't apply in your case.
It only applies if you present a car for a test, which already has valid NCT and this NCT is not expiring withing 90 days.

However, as you can test your vehicle up to 90 days before due date, you can already (or soon will be able to) test your vehicle.
I.e. if your test expired on 15th June 2017, then next due date is 15th June 2018 (assuming car is older than 10 years).
If you test your car within 90 days before 15th June 2018, then you should get a cert valid until 15th June 2019.

Be precise though with counting the days, as both March and May have 31 days, so f.e. 16th March might be actually more than 90 days before 15th June. You'd need to count days exactly.
