Speeding fine

    Good evening,
I'm writing this on behalf of my father, he was caught speeding on the 21/01/2018 by a fixed speed camera, my father does not live in Ireland, so has tried to pay the fine through cheque and through credit card twice, all 3 times the fixed charge processing office has responded with a letter stating that the payment cannot be processed even though the bank account is active and has sufficient funds to pay the fine.  I'm just wondering if anyone else has had similar problems with this? also if anyone could give any advice as to what to do next, that would be extremely helpful, as my father is confused as to what to do next seeing as he has tried all possible ways to pay this fine and is by no means trying to avoid paying it.  The fine has also increased from 80 euros to 120 euros, Thanks everyone.

Is it the case that it has proceeded to Court and the fine can't be paid for that reason?

If he doesnt live in Ireland and fails to pay the fine the state will have to summons him to court to proceed further.

The state cannot personally serve a summoms on somebody out of the country.

They could serve it on a relative in Ireland but I dont think any Judge would proceed with a case against somebody who hasnt been personally served with a summons in those circumstances.

If it was served on a family member that member could appear in court and explain the situation to the Judge.

Judges are increasingly frustated by the FCPS fine system and its lack of common sense.

He lives in the uk, tried to pay it once by cheque and twice by credit card with no success, even though the account has sufficient money to pay it, it keeps on getting rejected, he hasn’t had a court summons, I’m just trying to find out how he can go about it because he’s tried every way to try and pay this fine so it doesn’t go to court but it keeps being rejected
