    Hi
We have a bird in our garden today. I have no expertise, but it looks like Falcon of some type. Just standing there for the past few hours. No obvious injury, but clearly must be immobile in some way. Will post a photo shortly. Approx 20cm standing height, mottled breast.

Male sparrow hawk probably crashed into something and is stunned.they fly like a rocket.id give him couple of hours to come around and he will probably fly off.probably best left alone just keep eye on him.

Female Sparrowhawk, she looks in good shape weight wise, maybe hurt a wing. Could she have flown into a window?.....

Yes, there is a glass balustrade close to where the bird is :-(

Still there looking bewildered but nothing should be around to interfere.

Nothing should interfere with it.they are saucy fukrs and can well handle themselves.hopefully it comes around and gets going again. If not maybe herd it into a shed for the night and give it the option of going again at first light

Get onto Falconry Ireland, they gave great advice when a friend had an injured bird of prey in his garden a few months back. Their nutshell version was to herd into a shed or something overnight if you can and feed it raw red meat as close to room temperature as you can get it and they would collect it the next day if it still couldn't/wouldn't fly.

"His" bird unfortunately didn't make it, I really hope yours does.

Went out for a look around 5PM and no sign of him/ her. So it looks like it came around and flew off. Good result!

As a side issue, I live on the edge of Dublin (Kilternan/ Shankill) and have what I believe is a Buzzard or similar impressive bird as a regular visitor in the field behind our home. Also encountered on the road one driving from Wexford back to Dublin in 2017. Not sure who was more surprised...

Also colouration. Males tend to have a orange chest and slightly blue underside.
