Ford Focus timing belt interval

    Hi
    I have a 9 yr old petrol Focus with about 56k miles on the clock.  When I got the car I checked the timing belt interval and both an official Ford service dealer and my service manual say the belt doesn't need to be changed until 90k miles.  I thought this was quite high but I did confirm this with Ford.  
    Do you think the belt needs to be changed given the age of the car?

    It would be recommended yes.

    Belts wear and degrade over time.

    Low miles so worth doing and not losing an engine.

    There is a time aspect too, not just distance.

    Fords were 10 years or 100k miles I think but this was revised down to 8 years or 80k miles. Personally id do it at 60k or every 5 years whichever comes first for piece of mind.

    I think it's 100k miles and max 8 years on them

    I couldn't be sure but I think the mileage interval was lowered too to 80k miles afaik.

    That was the 1.8 tdci with the wet belt

    No i'm thinking of the petrols. I think the 1.8tdci went from a 200k km interval to 160k km.

    I looked it up on Ford etis uk.

    Petrols are 100m/8 years. 1.8tdci is still 125k miles/10 years 1.6D is the same
