Wisdom teeth removal

I have been waiting four years to have my 4 wisdom teeth removed as they are all growing sideways against the rest of my teeth. Finally the wait is almost over as I am at last being seen by the oral surgeon in Tipperary next month, and then to go from there I suppose.
I would really like to know how painful it is and what the recovery time is like also?
I have been told a few different things about it, some people say it’s not that bad and other people say it will take weeks for me to recover and get back to my normal self!
I am a mom of two little girls and I would love to know more so I can be as prepared as I can be.
If anyone can help me out and maybe tell me there story on their wisdom teeth being surgically removed or know some one that has gone through I would be so so grateful.
    Thanks in advance. 🙂

I had two surgically removed last Friday under local anaesthetic - one lower impacted and one upper. I didn’t particularly enjoy the experience but it wasn’t anywhere near as bad as I had feared/heard it would be. Felt nothing during the procedure, it took about 15 minutes to get the impacted one out and it involved a lot of cracking sounds and a lot of pressure. The other one was out in about 20 seconds. I’ve been on painkillers, antibiotics and Corsodyl mouthwash and I’ve had no major issues so far - bar the painkillers making me very drowsy! I’m on the heavy duty tramadol as I can’t take anti-inflammatories due to another medical condition. Usually paracetamol and ibuprofen would be recommended. Good bit of swelling but it’s starting to go down and I have a couple of stitches so still eating soft food and being really careful. My jaw is still aching but I wouldn’t say I was in bad pain at any point, which is fantastic. Delighted to have gotten rid of them, they were causing me a lot of hassle. I’m a student so my surgeon gave me a med cert for a week, though he said some people are able to go back to work/college sooner. I think I’m going to need another day or two at least, but all going well so far thankfully. Best of luck!
